Welcome
to the W7IUV web page!
This web page is intended to provide
an easy means for my friends and other interested parties to see what
I've been doing in Ham Radio. Since I enjoy building antennas and
amplifiers, you will see a lot of those projects displayed here. As I
have the time I will add projects which I think might have some general
interest or have been requested.
There was an extensive introduction page at one time, but it was too
fancy and was not composed with a microsoft product. The result was a
poor display when internet explorer was used for a browser. My choice,
Firefox, displayed everything perfectly. As a result, I've simplified
some pages so IE will not upchuck.
QSL policy (new):
Since I started Ham Radio nearly 50 years ago, I have never insisted on
return postage for QSL's. It's always been: Send me one, I'll send one
back the same way. Unfortunately due to the rising costs of postage and
everything else I can no longer continue this policy. With a great deal
of regret I must insist on return postage for all QSL requests. For USA
this means a SASE. For non-US, return postage must be included with the
self addressed envelope. For USA if no SASE, you won't get a card back.
For non-US countries that use a QSL bureau, your card will eventually
show up in the bureau system. I suggest that everyone use the Log Book
of the World system. I upload all my QSO's periodically. If your QSO
doesn't show up in 2 or 3 months, send me an email and I'll check to
see why.
Design methodology: KISS. I use parts I have on hand whenever possible
and that drives my designs more than anything else. This is HAM Radio,
a hobby, not NASA. There is no need for "engineering excellence",
It's got to be fun, not work, or it's not a hobby. Don't ask for
schematics or "HOW-TO's", what documentation there is is on the web
pages. No. I won't design anything for anyone else and I won't build
anything for anyone else. Sorry, I don't have enough time to do all the
things I want to do for myself.
Operating: I like 160 and the other low bands, but will fill in the
slow periods with VHF/UHF activities including EME. CW is my main mode,
but for EME I now use WSJT exclusively.
History: I've been around for a while. Years ago my call was K9VBS. Now
my wife, Tanya, holds that callsign courtesy of the vanity program.
Email: Feed back welcome, use the email address shown in QRZ.com. I
have a half dozen others but they change from time to time.
Have fun & 73,
Larry - W7IUV
